How to Upgrade Flash Media Player

The Flash Media Player, more commonly known as Adobe Flash Player or just Flash Player, is an application that is available as a free download from the Adobe website. The Flash Player brings the Internet to life, allowing users to enjoy movies and animations while surfing the web. Occasionally, Adobe provides updates that fix minor problems with the player. These updates ensure that Flash media runs smoothly, so it is important to install the latest version whenever an update is available.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer and visit the Adobe Flash Player Download Center at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

Step 2

Click on the "Agree and install now" button near the bottom of the screen.

Step 3

Select "Install" if the Internet Explorer Security Warning dialog box pops up. This may or may not appear, depending on the security settings on your computer. If the warning doesn't appear, your download started automatically.

Step 4

Allow the Flash Player to finish downloading. This may take a few minutes, depending on the speed of your computer.

Other Web Browsers

Step 1

Open your web browser and visit the Adobe Flash Player Download Center at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

Step 2

Click on "Agree and install now," and click on "Desktop" to save the installer file on your desktop.

Step 3

Allow the installer to download completely, and then double-click on the installer icon on your desktop.

Step 4

Close any open browser windows if you are prompted to do so, and wait until the installation process is complete.
