How to Upload iPhone Photos Onto the Computer

By Greyson Ferguson

The Apple iPhone has a built-in camera and is capable of storing hundreds of self-captured images on its built-in hard drive. Many users, however, want the ability to upload the images onto a computer for use elsewhere (such as with a video project or through email). Thankfully, the upload process is straightforward as it only requires you to sync the iPhone up with your home computer.

Things You'll Need

  • USB data cable (provided)

Step 1

Insert the USB data cable into the power port on the the bottom of the iPhone. This cable is provided with the wireless device.

Step 2

Plug the opposite end of the cable into one of the USB ports on the computer. Immediately iTunes loads, and so does the picture capture software of the computer. You must have iTunes on the computer when activating the iPhone, so you already have the necessary software installed on your computer. The images automatically begin to upload directly to the computer.

Step 3

Select either "Delete Originals" or "Keep Originals" when asked if you want to "Delete Originals" from a pop-up prompt window.

Step 4

Close out the image library that loads and click in iTunes. Choose the iPhone, listed under "My Devices," and click "Eject." This ejects the phone from the computer. You are now free to look at the uploaded images on your computer.
