How to Use Google to Track Cell Phone Locations

Google offers a program called Latitude that lets you track the location of a cell phone anywhere in the world. This program is free and can be used on both computers and cell phones. Latitude is the perfect tool to use when loved ones go on a trip and you want to track of their progress. To use Latitude, all you need is the number for the cell phone.

Things You'll Need

  • Google Latitude

Step 1

Download Google Latitude to your phone or computer. If you want to download it to your phone, you need to provide your phone number. If you want to download it to your computer, you must have a Google login. The link to the download page is in the Resources section at the end of this article.

Step 2

Install the software by following the on-screen directions. Installation should take no more than a minute.

Step 3

Open Google Latitude. Type the phone number, including the area code, into the search bar. The location of the cell phone will displayed on a Google map.
