How to Use the Recovery Partition in an Acer Extensa 5620
If your Acer Extensa 5620 laptop is suffering from errors or problems related to viruses, spyware, malware or poorly written software, the Windows operation system might become corrupt or unstable. To repair and correct difficult to diagnose software problems, reinstalling Windows and starting over with default software is an option. Like other Acer computers, the Extensa 5620 laptop comes with a special partition that stores the recovery utility along with all data needed to restore the computer to factory default settings.
Shut down the Extensa 5620, then disconnect and connect the AC power adapter.
Turn on the computer. As soon as the computer starts, hold the “Alt” key and tap the “F10” key repeatedly until the “Starting Acer Recovery” message appears.
Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to position the cursor over the “Restore System to Factory Default” option. Press the “Enter” key. If prompted, enter the eRecovery password.
An on-screen warning message will appear to inform you that restoring the computer will delete all data files. Click the “Yes” button to continue.
Click “Next” on the following screen, then wait for the utility to reformat the primary partition and reinstall system files. After the utility restores the operating system and software to factory defaults, press any key when prompted. The computer will restart. Allow the laptop to boot into Windows normally.
