How to View Cookies on a Mac Computer
Cookies are small amounts of information saved on your computer whenever you visit a website. They often contain your user ID and password for the website and can track your search history while on the site. Cookies may be in your Internet preferences and store until you manually erase them from your computer. To protect your privacy, only accept cookies from sites with which you are familiar.
View Cookies using Safari
Click the "Safari" icon on your dock and click "Safari" at the top of the screen.
Click "Preferences" from the drop-down menu, then click the "Security" button.
Click the "Show Cookies" button and click the tabs at the top of the "Cookies" windows to sort them by website, name or path.
Click "Done" to exit the window or click "Remove" to delete a specific cookie.
View Cookies using Firefox
Open your Firefox browser and click "FireFox" at the top of the screen.
Click "Preferences" from the drop-down menu, then click the "Privacy" button.
Click the "Show Cookies" button to view all of your browser's cookies. Click "Remove Cookies" or "Remove All Cookies" to clear your folder, or click the red button in the upper left corner of the window to exit out of the window.
Tips & Warnings
- Removing website cookies will erase your saved username and password.
