How to Watch an SRT File

By Andrew Meer

Subtitle files come in a number of file formats, and SRT (SubRip) is one such file format. You can create or modify any SRT file using a basic text editor such as Notepad or WordPad. SRT files can be played on a number of media players, including Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player and the DivX Plus Player.

Media Player Classic

Step 1

Click "File" and select the "Open File" option to go to the location of the movie that you want to watch along with the SRT file.

Step 2

Select the movie and click "OK" to play it.

Step 3

Click "File" again and select the "Load Subtitle" option this time to go to the location of the SRT file.

Step 4

Select the SRT file and click "OK" to watch it alongside the movie.
