How to Watch TV Channels for Free on My PC

By James Clark

Cable and satellite television services still dominate the market for consumer television service, although many websites offer free, legal access to hundreds of television channels that can be viewed by anyone with a computer and Internet connection. Multimedia software such as Windows Media Player or QuickTime (standard on Apple computers) is used to watch programs on the PC or laptop. With the explosive growth of web-based TV programming, there's almost certainly something good to watch online, right now, for free.

Things You'll Need

  • PC or laptop with Internet connection

Step 1

Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, on your computer or laptop.

Step 2

Type in the web address for any website that offers television programming. Examples include Hulu, Sling and TVChannelsFree.

Step 3

Use the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard or the mouse to scroll through the available channels, then click on the desired channel and scroll through the available programs. Double-click on a program name to download the show for viewing on the computer.

Step 4

Adjust the volume on the external or built-in speakers on the computer or laptop and enjoy the show.
