How to Watch TV on My Laptop
Laptop computers offer users a way to compute while away from home, but they can also be used as a form of entertainment as well. One of the best things is that you can use your laptop computer to access TV options as well. You can watch both regular and Internet-based television from your laptop to keep up on your favorite shows and discover new ones.
Access a TV or video website such as Hulu, YouTube or Ustream on your laptop's Web browser. You can then access TV content without having to download any dedicated software for your laptop.
Subscribe to podcasts of shows and use a podcast reader like Lemon or iTunes to download and watch them. You typically copy a link to the podcast into the podcast software, and then the software downloads the podcast.
Purchase a TV tuner and connect it to your laptop using the supplied cable. Note that TV tuners also typically include software you must install for use, and you may also need to include an antenna or cable connection as well.
Set up a remote media server such as MythTV, Slingbox or TiVo. You install server software on a PC at your home, then set up client software on your laptop. This allows your laptop to connect over the Internet to access your own TV line at home.
Use specialized TV software such as Miro or Hulu Desktop to access Internet TV. Download the software from their respective websites and install it.
