Instructions for How to Use a Uniden PowerMax Digital Phone

By Whitney Houston

The Uniden PowerMax 5.8-gigahertz digital phone handset comes with a base, which charges the phone and answers calls when the handset is not available. The phone can be answered several ways, including via speakerphone or by simply lifting the phone off the base. After the phone is installed and set up, you might want to test your phone with the basics before you rely on it at home or the office.

Step 1

Remove the Uniden handset from the base and press the "Talk/Flash" button on the handset to answer an incoming phone call, unless the phone is set to "AutoTalk." If the phone is set to "AutoTalk," pick up the phone from the base to answer the call.

Step 2

Press the "Talk/Flash" button to answer the call, if the Uniden phone is off the base when it rings, unless the phone is set to "Any Key Answer" mode. In which case, press any key on the handset keypad to answer the phone. Speak into the lower portion of the phone and press the top speaker against your ear.

Step 3

Press the "Spkr" button on the handset to answer a call, and use the speakerphone function to talk without holding the Uniden handset. Press the "Talk" button on the base to answer a call from the base without the handset.

Step 4

Push the "Talk/Flash" button on the handset and listen to speaker for the dial tone to place a call. Enter the 10-digit phone number into the PowerMax with the numbered keypad and listen for the calling sound in the speaker. You can also dial the 10-digit number and then press the "Talk/Flash" button to place a call.

Step 5

Push the "End" button on the handset keypad to end a phone call or place the phone back onto the base. Push the "Talk" button on the base station to end a call answered from the base.

Step 6

Press the "Redial/p" button on the Uniden handset to redial a number. The last number dialed appears on the monitor. Push "Redial/p" to continuously cycle through the last three dialed numbers. Push the "Talk/Flash" button when the desired number is highlighted, and then that phone number is then dialed.

Step 7

Push the "Menu/Mute" button to access the ringer options. Push the "+" or "-" button on the keypad to select from "Ringer Volume," "Ringer Tones" or "Distinct Ring." Push the "+" or "-" button to select from the options, until the desired volume options are set. Push the "Select/Ch" button on the handset keypad to save your settings and push "End" to exit.
