My iPhone Is Not Sliding

By William Pullman

If the slider bar on the bottom of your iPhone's lock screen doesn't work, you are essentially locked out of your phone. An unresponsive slider bar is likely caused by a software error that you can fix with a reboot. Be warned, though, that rebooting your iPhone requires you to use a different slider bar, one that also may not work. If the slider bar used to shut down your phone does not work either, you must perform a reset on your iPhone.

Reboot

Step 1

Press and hold the Power button on the top of the iPhone until the "Slide to Power Off" screen appears.

Step 2

Place your finger on the red box with the white arrow and slide it to the right side of the screen to power off the phone. The screen will turn off when the screen goes black.

Step 3

Press and hold the Power button on the top of the iPhone until the Apple logo appears on the screen. After booting up, the lock screen will appear. The slider should function properly.

Reset

Step 1

Push and hold the Power button on the top of the iPhone.

Step 2

Press and hold the Home button while continuing to hold the Power button.

Step 3

Release the Power and Home buttons when the Apple logo appears. The logo will appear on the screen for several seconds while the phone resets. The lock screen will appear on the phone. You can now use the slider.
