Norton 360 Won't Open
Norton 360 is a comprehensive computer security suite of programs produced by the Symantec corporation. It provides firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware and antiphishing protection for home and business computers. A problem that arises for some Norton 360 users is having the program fail to open when they select the program icon in the System tray or using the desktop icon. This can occur when a software conflict occurs, the computer has become infected with a virus, or a major operating system compatibility update has been released for the software but was not installed.
Restart your computer in Windows Safe Mode with Networking by depressing the “F8” key during restart and selecting the “With Networking” menu option when prompted.
Select the “Start” and “Run” menu buttons and enter “luall.exe” in the search text box, followed by the “Enter” key. This will manually run Norton 360 Live Update after you select the default menu prompts on the subsequent dialog boxes.
Restart the computer in Windows Safe Mode. Double-click the Norton 360 program icon in the System tray or select the icon on your computer's desktop.
Click the “Scan Now” menu button on the Norton 360 Control Panel and allow the application to conduct a complete scan of your computer in order to detect any potential infections that may have caused Norton 360 to fail to start.
Restart your computer normally and Norton 360 will be restored.
