“Outlook” is Microsoft’s email client application. An email client is a computer program that connects to a Web mail account(s), allowing users to send, receive and manage emails from one or more Web mail accounts from a single interface on a computer workstation. You can, for example, configure Outlook’s account settings to connect to your AT&T U-verse email account.

More Settings for AT&T Email
Additional account settings have to be made to configure Outlook to connect to your AT&T email. These additional setting options are accessed by clicking the “More Settings” button. A new “Internet Email Settings” dialog box will open. Go to the “Outgoing Server” tab and check the box next to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.” Make sure the “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” option is selected. On the “Advanced” tab the “Incoming server (POP3)” port number is 995. The “Outgoing server (SMTP)” port number is 465. The box next to “This server requires a secure connection (SSL)” must be checked. And “SSL” must be selected next to “Use the following type of encrypted connection.”
