What Is Trojan Agent?
Trojan Agent is a malicious program, or malware, that typically uses fake threats to entice and mislead you to download or purchase a rogue anti-spyware program. Trojans are different than other malware, such as worms or viruses, because they cannot multiply themselves.
According to Malware Bytes, a Trojan is defined as a malicious program that claims to have a particular function, but in fact has a hidden agenda which is often destructive.
In the case of Trojan Agent, the purpose of the program is to allow hackers to get you to download or purchase an unneeded anti-spyware program. In other cases, Trojan Agent is used to re-direct internet traffic through your computer or steal information from your computer, according to Spyware Techie. Rogue programs like Trojan Agent are used to scare people into buying unneeded programs because they claim your computer is at risk, or give falsified scan results and put their own malware in your system, according to Malware Bytes.
Avoidance and Removal
The best thing to do when confronted with a Trojan Agent is to simply not download or purchase the software. If your computer does become infected, however, there are several websites that can assist you with manual or automatic removal instructions.
