VERDICT
Clearly above average. Only a couple of issues keep this from being best in class.

PROS

  • This little speaker has a huge bass response.
  • It supports NFC and pairs with up to three devices on Bluetooth.
  • The speaker has an incredibly low Bluetooth latency of 32 milliseconds, so movie soundtracks stay in sync.

CONS

  • The huge bass overwhelms the rest of the total range. The midrange and highs are dull sounding,
  • It sports a fairly large form factor, and the carrying case costs extra.
  • It claims a 10-hour battery life, but doesn't seem to live up to that.
The Denon Envaya DSB-200 aims to take market share from competitors like the Bose SoundLink, Creative SoundBlaster Roar, and the Infinity One. The powerful bass is clear but tends to overpower mids and highs. The stylish case is 1.25 inches deep by 10 inches long with a kickstand back--a little too big for pocket size. The 10-hour battery powers the speaker and an external USB jack to power your devices. For connectivity, the DSB-200 supports wired input, near field communication, and Bluetooth with up to three devices at a time. Colored grill inserts let you subtly change the look of the speaker.

In fact, you spend the first few minutes of life with the Envaya reeling from just how much bass it produces.
