PROS

  • The camera is a compact size that fits in your pocket.
  • Fast 12 fps burst mode when shooting means you can catch the action.
  • The larger-than-average image sensor provides superior image quality.

CONS

  • It lacks the zoom range reach of some competitors.
  • You're limited to the built-in flash, as there is no hot shoe.
  • The battery life is middling.
The Fujifilm XQ2 bridges the gap between basic compact and more advanced enthusiast cameras, and it does so at a reasonable price. This model is slim enough to slip into a pocket and powerful enough to provide great-looking pictures. The XQ2 performs well in low light, and it is a step up from a smartphone camera or an entry level point and shoot.

The Fujifilm XQ2 ($399.95) is the company's take on a premium compact—a small camera with a wide-aperture zoom lens, a larger-than-average image sensor, and Raw shooting capability. It strips away advanced features like a hot shoe or integrated EVF (you'll find them in the larger Fuji X30$499.99 at Best Buy), but is quite capable in its own right.

It perhaps falls between two camps, though, with the pricier Sony RX-100 series benefiting from a larger 1-inch sensor and offering class-leading performance for enthusiasts wanting a truly pocketable compact.
