VERDICT
Clearly above average. Only a couple of issues keep this from being best in class.

PROS

  • The buds are tiny and lightweight, and they produce solid sound overall.
  • Expect to tune out external noise, thanks to the X11i's effective ear-plugging design.
  • The bundled accessories, which include five sizes of ear tips and a leather carrying case, feel durable.

CONS

  • If you crave a heavy and cranked-up bass, you'll be disappointed with this unit; the X11i shines in the midrange.
  • The price is steep. You can probably get comparable sound for a lot less with a lesser-known brand.
  • The in-line controller works specifically with Apple devices, so if you own Android or Windows gear, functionality is either limited or nonexistent.
Klipsch's own top-of-the-line X11i in-ear headphones boast high-quality components: slim earbuds, tangle-resistant cable, five different sizes of earpiece covers, a leather carrying case, a 3.5 mm adapter, an airplane adapter, and the ever-so-popular shirt clip. The 3-button microphone/remote combo, designed to work with Apple devices, is slender and surprisingly robust, given its diminutive size. The X11i delivers big sound, particularly in the midrange, and the buds' oval shape and seal design help block ambient noise.

The cable is lined with Kevlar - the stuff they put in body armour. While the X11is probably won’t stop bullets, they can take being stuffed into pockets. And the square cable is genuinely tangle-resistant.

The earbuds are also smartly designed; almost unbelievably light, and with a square cord that minimizes unwanted cable noise.
