A solid product. Despite some flaws, it's still a good value.

PROS

  • The Pixpro SP360 is a rugged 360-degree camera in a small package.
  • It can double as an ultrawide angle 1080p action video camera.
  • Free software is available for both iOS and Android for live view and camera control, as well as a desktop app to edit and manipulate the 360 images.

CONS

  • The 360 video requires processing by Kodak software, which reduces the quality of the video.
  • The menu system and controls are not intuitive.
  • When you turn the camera on, you need to wait for Wi-Fi to start, which can delay shooting.
Get the action from all sides with the Kodak Pixpro SP360 camera. The 16 MP sensor and stabilized 0.88 mm (8.25 35-mm equivalent) f/2.8 lens produce circular images and video that you can flatten or expand and then upload to YouTube in the free Pixpro SP360 Desktop Editing app for PC or Mac. Use Wi-Fi or NFC for wireless camera control and a live view with the free iOS or Android apps. The camera takes single or 10-image burst still images and everything is stored on a Micro SD card. While the action camera is splash proof and dust proof, you’ll still want the waterproof housing for underwater use. Setting and mode changes, such as converting to a traditional wide-angle action camera, are done on a small LCD screen.

The camera is cool however for taking the kind of psychedelic-looking still photographs that would have graced 1970s prog rock albums or posters in a student dorm – and without needing specialist software to achieve that unique perspective.

... you're getting a camera that does a pretty cool trick that can also be used as a regular camera for capturing yourself doing pretty cool tricks (or anything else). It's not perfect, but it is an easy way to spice up your videos without buying multiple cameras.

The SP360 is all about capturing the experience of the moment, and for activities or travel, it’s a nice secondary camera to bring along.

Just slightly larger than a roll of film (remember what that was?), the SP360 looks like a teeny R2D2 without the legs.
