Recommended, but seriously flawed. There are probably better alternatives.

PROS

  • The Yoga Tab 3 Pro has a built-in projector. Need we say more?
  • Quad speakers coupled with Dolby's Atmos 3D audio tuning make for impressive sound.
  • The QHD display delivers sharp images and video.

CONS

  • All that premium goodness will cost you.
  • The projector's image, at 854 X 580 pixels, isn't very sharp.
  • You're stuck with Android. There's no Windows option.
Billed as “the ultimate video tablet,” the Yoga Tab 3 Pro features a 70-inch projector so you can watch movies against a wall or--thanks to the projector's location on the tablet’s rotatable kickstand--even on the ceiling. The device boasts a 10.1-inch QHD screen which is rich and vivid at 310 ppi. It also features a distinctive barrel hinge and a front-facing sound bar that houses four JBL speakers and Dolby Atmos audio tuning, which the company says provides a 3D surround sound experience. The tablet is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM. Its massive battery promises 18 hours of usage.

It could be better: just imagine if it was 1080p. However, I was surprised by how much I didn’t hate the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro’s projector. There’s an unmistakable appeal to watching TV projected on the ceiling as you lie in bed, even if it is SD-quality.

In fact, the new pixel density of 310 ppi even puts it ahead of the excellent Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet (299ppi), which has a stunning display.

As a media-consumption device, the Yoga Tab 3 stands above similarly priced 8-inch tablets, thanks mostly to its prodigious 15-hour-plus battery life. I like the Yoga Tab 3's kickstand, which is a feature I think every tablet should have. The Tab 3's front-facing speakers are key, too, even if the low-end audio is a little lacking. Just don't expect to do much more than stream movies and play casual games.

The key question here surrounds the quality of the projector itself, and on this front I’m not entirely convinced.
