PROS

  • LG’s B6 Series provides mostly the same performance found in the company’s higher-end OLED UHDTVs but at a much-reduced price.
  • The deep black levels OLED tech is famous for are in evidence in the B6 Series, and screen uniformity is greatly improved over LG’s 2015 OLED models.
  • Like other OLEDs, B6 Series sets present an ultra-wide viewing angle so that images look good from every seat.

CONS

  • Brightness with the B6 Series isn’t as impressive as you see with LG’s higher-end models, but it’s good enough for high dynamic range viewing.
  • The lack of 3D viewing capability on LG’s B6 Series OLEDs will disappoint fans of 3D movies.
  • While the B6 Series features LG’s webOS 3.0 Smart TV platform, the implementation here feels underpowered and slow compared with the company’s higher-priced models.
LG’s B6 Series represents a relative bargain for an OLED UHDTV with all-around excellent video performance characterized by the deep blacks and wide viewing angles that OLED tech is known for. Compared with the company’s higher-end models, the trade-offs are a lack of 3D capability, a slow user interface, and somewhat reduced light output. However, B6 Series sets are still bright enough to do justice to the HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range formats, both of which are supported.

The B6 is a superb HDR performer overall, evincing similar advantages to what I saw with standard dynamic range content.
