A solid product. Despite some flaws, it's still a good value.

PROS

  • The LG G Watch R is attractive and its circular face avoids the flat-tire appearance of competitors like the Moto 360.
  • Battery life is good for an Android Wear device. You'll get at least a full day of use and possibly up to two.
  • The P-OLED touch-screen display is bright, clear, and easy to read.

CONS

  • While LG did a great job with the hardware, Android Wear is still a new operating system that needs to mature.
  • The G Watch R is a bulky watch, and its design is decidedly masculine.
  • At a cost of over $300 at launch, the G Watch R is one of the most expensive Android Wear devices.
The LG G Watch R runs the Android Wear operating system and is compatible with devices running Android 4.3 and up, as well as iOS 8.2 and up with limited functionality. It has a 1.3-inch circular P-OLED display, a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon CPU, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, and a 410 mAh battery. The G Watch R is water and dust resistant and includes a heart rate sensor. The strap is replaceable, and LG includes 24 different watch faces to choose from.

The main disadvantage to the design is that it's quite large, like others, meaning that females are likely to find it huge.

At 1.3 inches across, the LG's Plastic OLED display is smaller than the 360's, but on the flipside, with the same 320 x 320 resolution (or mostly same; Motorola's is 320 x 290) it has a small edge (no pun intended) on the sharpness front.
