PROS

  • If you dig bass, you're likely to enjoy the sound produced by these in-ear headphones from Monster.
  • The package comes with an assortment of clips in various sizes aimed at giving you a comfortable, secure fit.
  • These athletically oriented earbuds are not just sweat-resistant but waterproof for brief periods.

CONS

  • While the audio quality is good, some wearers report the fit is uncomfortable.
  • You might need to do a lot of fiddling to get the earbuds to sit correctly in the folds of your ear.
  • While the buds fit most ears, they don't fit everyone.
Geared for use in sports and fitness, the iSport Strive delivers Monster's rich, bass-heavy signature sound in a pint-sized, uniquely shaped package. The low-end model in Monster's iSport product family, the Strive is specifically designed to offer partial noise blocking, which lets you hear sounds like traffic noises and conversations while on the road or at the gym. Unlike in-ear monitors, these headphones are earbuds with no extension into the inner ear. The Strive differs from standard earbuds, though, due to its unusual design. The earbuds feature a rubberized clip that goes around the in-ear speakers to keep them in place.

Without the grip of a full in-ear ear bud the iSport Strive rely on the silicon ear hook to keep them in place. Take time to try out the different sizes, but once you find one that grips you'll be amazed how secure they feel. Not having a bud buried deep in our ear canal seems odd to begin with - the headphones feel as if they are sitting against, rather than inside our ears - but once you trust that the semi-open design won't fall out you can get on and ignore them.

Roadrunners, these are for you. Each model in Monster's three-strong iSport range is defined by a different noise-isolation level, and this lower-ranging Strive model is the least (the company calls it ‘partially’) noise-blocking – designed so joggers can hear both their tunes and surrounding traffic. It seems Monster has safety in mind.

I think these would be the be all end all inexpensive workout headphone if they came with a few more ear pieces. I couldn't find a set of ear pieces that didn't cause me significant pain and stay in place, but man do they stay in place. Running, lifting and headbanging have no [effect] on the seal of these headphones

The iSport Victory tends to isolate you from external sounds, which is great if you want to be in your own world during your activity, while the Intensity and the Strive allow external sounds to be heard, which can be very handy for runners or bicyclist to hear cars coming, or if you simply want to talk to someone without having to remove the ear buds all the time. The overall design of those product look very sturdy and they seem fairly resistant to shocks (to a point). I really like the flat cable which prevents cables from becoming entangled in your bag.
