Clearly above average. Only a couple of issues keep this from being best in class.

PROS

  • Its epic battery life allows you to go a full day or two between charges.
  • The quad HD display looks great with good viewing angles.
  • Performance is fast and lag-free thanks to its 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU.

CONS

  • The DROID Turbo's design is boring.
  • High-end hardware and a large battery contribute to a noticeably heavier phone than the Moto X (2014).
  • Carrier exclusives should go away; the DROID Turbo is only available on Verizon.
The Motorola DROID Turbo runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat and comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED, Gorilla Glass 3 display. Its 21 MP rear-facing camera has an f/2.0 aperture lens, while its 2 MP front-facing camera supports 1080p HD video. The Verizon-exclusive smartphone comes with Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with dual-band support. All models come with 32 GB of storage, while the ballistic nylon model comes with 64 GB. Other colors include metallic red, metallic black, sapphire blue, and gray ballistic nylon with metallic accents (blue, orange, and violet). The DROID Turbo’s 3,900 mAh battery is rated at up to 48 hours of mixed usage.

Verizon is going to sell a huge number of Droid Turbos, and I think that the people who end up buying them will be making a good choice. But there's no reason to blindly go pick up the Turbo without looking at the Moto X right next to it in the store.

If you want a super powerful, future-proof smartphone with all the benefits that good battery life bring with it, then the Droid Turbo will serve you well. However, it's probably the most bland and utilitarian smartphone design in Motorola's arsenal (or any smartphone maker's lineup for that matter.)

Great Battery Life, Nice Screen Size
The battery life made me love this phone. If I forget to charge it, it's still with me the next day. Even when I use the camera and play a few rounds of Candy Crush, I don't have to worry that I'm not carrying a spare charger. It's noticeably larger than my previous phone (A Droid Razr). I thought I'd have a problem fitting it into purses and pockets. Sometimes It is a bit of a squeeze. But the unexpected benefit of the larger screen is that now it isn't torture to read things on my phone, meaning that I don't need to carry my tablet with me all the time as I did before. Life got simpler.
