PROS

  • The OnePlus One looks and performs like a flagship device at half the cost.
  • It boasts a bright, 1080p high-defintion display.
  • You'd be hard pressed to find a better equipped device at its current price.

CONS

  • The OnePlus One's 4G compatibility is spotty depending on your carrier.
  • The camera is OK, but lacks the quality you expect from a true flagship device.
  • Call volume is far too low.
The OnePlus One is a scrappy underdog in the smartphone industry. A device that looks like a high-end smartphone on the spec sheet, but at checkout, it's anything but that. Featuring a 5.5-inch display, 16 or 64GB of storage, a 13 MP camera, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,100 mAh battery, the OnePlus One is sure to make any Android phone jealous.

We found that the 3100mAh battery of the One provides at least a day and a half's use, which can stretch to a full two days with light use.

Call quality, unfortunately, was one of the biggest sore spots for the OnePlus One. Volume in the earpiece is frustratingly weak and made callers on the other end sound muted, distant, and difficult to hear over even the most innocuous of ambient noise.

In the era of big-screened devices, the 5.5-inch IPS panel with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels on the OnePlus One is starting to feel standard. Regardless of the relatively large display, the pixel density, at 401 ppi, ensures a detailed image at all times.

And I don't even like Android...
I bought the OnePlus One because it seemed like too good a deal to pass up. I'm an iPhone user most of the time, but I return to the One frequently because it's just an amazing piece of hardware. Big screen, fast processor, great CyanogenMod skin, and a great off-contract price tag.

Best value for a smartphone ever!
I purchased the OnePlus One about a year ago and have been really happy with it! Although half the price of its competitors, OnePlus One offers the same features or even more. Price is insanely low for what you get. Quality is pretty good as well! I feel like they could improve the camera as sometimes it has a hard time focusing. Also, while the phone looks modern and slick when you look at it, I feel like the materials are slightly cheap. But at the same time, this phone is half the price of its competitors so I was fine dealing with that. I would definitely buy this phone again or the next version of it!
