PROS
- The impressive brightness of the Panasonic CX400U Series TVs makes them a good option for viewing in high ambient-light environments.
- Panasonic CX400U Series TVs deliver accurate color out of the box with only minimal adjustments required on the part of the user.
- While they lack features such as the high dynamic range and wide color gamut capability found in higher-end models, Panasonic's CX400U Series offers good overall performance and value.
CONS
- The lack of a backlight adjustment in CX400U Series TVs makes it difficult to optimize video performance on these sets for viewing in a dark room.
- Smart TV and streaming app options on the CX400U Series are limited compared with other UHDTVs, including some recent models from Panasonic.
- Panasonic's use of a vertical alignment-type LCD panel in the CX400U Series results in a narrow viewing angle compared with sets that use an IPS-type panel.
The Panasonic CX400U Series is the company’s high-value UHDTV line, delivering good overall performance with high brightness, accurate out-of-box color, and impressive 4K picture detail. The lack of a backlight adjustment makes the CX400U Series a better choice for well-lit rather than dim home theater rooms, however, and the sets have a relatively narrow viewing angle. The streaming app selection is slim here compared with other TVs that provide a wider range of Smart TV features.

Not surprisingly, given the TC-65CX400U’s lack of any sophisticated zone dimming, black level was its weakness.

For the most part the TC-55CX400U presented realistic colors that were not over saturated.
