Recommended, but seriously flawed. There are probably better alternatives.

PROS

  • The Pebble Watch is water resistant for up to 50 meters.
  • The Watch now has access to an app store, so you can more easily find and download apps of interest.
  • The Watch is simple to set up, easy to understand, and intuitive to use.

CONS

  • The Pebble Watch's design is basic. It may not look good on all people in all situations.
  • The Watch can store only a limited number of apps.
  • Notifications can be delivered to the Watch, but they can't always be acted on.
The Pebble Watch just might be the original Kickstarter success story. Funding for this first-generation device was raised through the crowd-sourcing website and far exceeded the original goal. The resulting product was a simple-to-use, basic smartwatch. It connects to Android and iOS phones by Bluetooth and displays notifications of incoming calls, emails, and text messages on its 1.26-inch, e-paper display. Pebble has updated the Watch with an app store, where you can find and download apps that the Watch uses to play music, connect to fitness apps, play games, and more.

Still an excellent choice
I've had a first gen Pebble almost from the outset, and it's still an incredibly good smartwatch. Through many upgrades, it has continued to get better, and I love the fact that it has long battery life, is waterproof, and has superb notifications.
