PROS

  • Despite its svelte profile, the ATIV Book 9 still has room for all the ports you need in a laptop.
  • With an all-metal body, the ATIV Book 9 is incredibly thin yet strong.
  • Its 2560 X 1600 resolution screen is practically Retina.

CONS

  • Battery life is disappointing for an Intel Core M-equipped laptop.
  • Its smaller-keyboard keys can be uncomfortable for all-day typing.
  • Navigating Windows is not intuitive on this device due to the lack of a touch screen.
The 2015 edition of the Samsung ATIV Book 9 is the closest MacBook-alternative for the Windows crowd. As the first 12-inch ultraportable to embrace the new Intel Core M processor, the ATIV Book 9 is proof that a slim profile doesn't have to come at the cost of expandability. In fact, it manages to squeeze everything--from a microSD card slot to multiple USB 3.0 ports--into an all metal, 2-pound package with an impressive Retina-like display.

However, the relatively short battery life makes this system a tough sell for its $1,199 price.

Good attempt
This thing looks really sleek and weighs even less than a macbook air. Everything is great, until you turn it on. The battery life, touchpad, and screen all leave a lot to be desired.
