[T]he noise cancellation feature of the Samsung Level Over is able to do a decent job at reducing distracting background noise – giving us full attention to our music. However, it doesn’t mute it out entirely, but rather, suppresses it enough to keep our attention solely on the music.

Soundstage is decent, but considering this is a closed back pair of headphones, you trade some soundstage for enhanced bass response. Sound leakage isn’t much of an issue because of this as well – you’ll have to crank these pretty loud for any passers by to hear what you’re listening to.

On tracks with intense sub-bass content, like The Knife's "Silent Shout," the Level Over delivers excellent bass response—at top volumes (on both device and headphones) it sounds intense, delivering near-subwoofer style audio, but never distorting. There's plenty of boosted high frequency response here so that things sound fairly balanced.

What Samsung has done is transform the outer surface of the right-hand ear cup into a touch panel, introducing touch-gestures instead of analogue buttons. Swipe up/down to change volume, left/right to skip tracks, tap for play/pause. It works really well and it makes quick operation very intuitive.

Listening to a big performance like The Waterboys You In The Sky, the headphones remained spacious in a way that allows the music to flow around you. As the tempo picks up, the Samsung's never sound slow or lacking in drive, retaining a sense of urgency and keeping pace with tracks like Be My Enemy.

[T]he Level Over are very comfortable to wear. We found their lightweight nature to feel almost floaty, helped by the cushy brown-coloured padding of the headband and earcups...But they are rather large...those with small heads will probably find these nothing short of huge.

Apart from the size of the Level Over, there isn’t a lot to dislike. The exterior plastic of the earcups does feel a little cheap but the earpads and headband make up for it. Sound quality is also respectable.

Thanks to the sizable build and plush parts, Samsung's Level Overs offer a supremely comfortable fit. These things are over-ear headphones in the truest sense, with cushy speaker pads that fit completely over top of your ears. The band sports plush faux-leather along its interior, and the whole rig is lighter than it looks.

How well do the gestures work? Surprisingly well, actually. I love them, and though the next / previous track gesture sometimes activated accidentally when I went to shift the headphones or take them off, it's something I got used to and was able to avoid after using them for a week.

Samsung’s audio quality...leaves something to be desired with the Level Over (sound comes through somewhat tinny and lacking the rich quality you’ll get...from companies with more audio chops), but the trade-offs in terms of their complete compatibility with the Galaxy range and in-line controls might make that an exchange worth making.

To me, the Samsung Level Overs offer great full sound without any EQ fiddling. I love they way they sound when using them with my smartphone, and the full day battery life fits right in with a full-day of comfortable wearing.
