PROS

  • The satin gold chassis looks good and shouldn't scratch or collect dust.
  • This laptop's keyboard features a number pad, which some people will definitely appreciate.
  • Toshiba includes a key that launches Cortana on Windows 10.

CONS

  • The display has poor color accuracy, bad viewing angles, and noticeable glare.
  • The keyboard is "sticky" and the off-center trackpad is inflexible, which makes it hard to know if your clicks are registering unless you are looking at the screen
  • Battery life is below average, lasting only four to five hours during testing.
Sitting between the high-performance S line and budget-priced C series, Toshiba's Satellite L series laptops are mid-priced entertainment-focused laptops designed for Windows 10. The L stands for "Listen," and HP worked with headphone-manufacturer Skullcandy to optimize the laptop's audio. These laptops are available in two sizes--15.6 in and 17.3 inch--with many configurations with Intel or AMD processors, up to 16GB of memory, and an optional touch screen. They all have a satin gold finish.

The Satellite L also disappoints when it comes to displaying content. With a standard HD screen that can be upgraded to full HD and touch-enabled, you're definitely not going to wow anyone with photo or video detail.

Quite frankly, the design is definitely the strong suit of this budget machine and while this is a rather subjective opinion, the notebook really looks sleek and polished. Probably one of the best-looking laptops in this price range on the market right now.
