VERDICT
A solid product. Despite some flaws, it's still a good value.

PROS

  • The Activite Pop looks just like a normal watch. It doesn't use the same premium materials as the Activite, but it costs $300 less.
  • You can take the Activite Pop for a swim and not have to worry about water damage; the Activate Pop is waterproof to 50 meters.
  • Unlike some devices that track sleep, the Activite Pop automatically detects when you're snoozing.

CONS

  • The Activite Pop is slow to sync with the mobile app.
  • Since it doesn't have any buttons or a crown, all interaction and settings--including setting the correct time--must be done through the Withings mobile app.
  • Only a day and a half of data is stored on the Activite Pop, so you'll need to sync up constantly. Given its slow sync performance, that might get annoying fast.
The Withings Activite Pop is the more affordable sibling of the Activite. It costs $300 less than the Activite but has all the same features, including step tracking, sleep tracking, water resistance up to five ATM, and an eight-month battery life. The Pop has a silicone strap and a mineral glass dial, and it comes in several colors. It pairs with Android and iOS devices over Bluetooth, and its Health Mate companion app is necessary to configure the Pop and view collected data.

In our tests, the Pop’s measurements were just as accurate as the original Activité’s. In fact, it actually synced with the app faster than the first Activité did, thanks to a firmware update on the watch itself.

If you enjoy earning rewards, you may like that the Withings app sends push notifications to your smartphone for certain accomplishments — such as when you've unlocked a badge (which might tell you that you've walked enough to have climbed the Eiffel Tower, for example).

There's literally no way you interact directly with the watch itself, which is kind of odd, and to me, off-putting.
