It's happening. After spending years in development limbo, Hocus Pocus is finally getting a sequel, and the movie has officially found its director.
Adam Shankman, who you might remember as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance (he has also produced and directed tons of movies, including Step Up and The Wedding Planner) has signed on to direct Hocus Pocus 2, as reported by Variety.
Written by Workaholics co-producer Jen D'Angelo, details have yet to be released, but we do know that the movie isn't meant to be a reboot, but rather a sequel. As much as we desperately want the original Sanderson sisters to be a part of this project, aka Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, none of the actresses have signed on. But Disney is said to be interested in making it happen, so there's at least a chance.
Hopefully the rest of the cast will also jump on board, because it'd be really nice to know what Dani (Thora Birch), Max (Omri Katz), and Allison (Vinessa Shaw) are up to now.
The movie will be coming to Disney Plus, so you won't even need to leave your house to see it. Perfect.
