The 'Hamilton' Movie Is Coming to Disney+ in July

Hamilton tickets aren't easy to come by (before the pandemic, that is), and they certainly aren't very affordable. But now you're not going to need tickets to see 11-time Tony Award winning show at all—just a $6.99 monthly Disney+ subscription.

Disney announced that the filmed version of Hamilton on Broadway will premiere on Disney+ on July 3rd, 15 months ahead of the original theatrical release date of October 15, 2021.

The movie was directed by Thomas Kail, who is also the director of the stage production, and it was put together from three live Broadway performances shot in 2016 before the original cast members moved on.

"No other artistic work in the last decade has had the cultural impact of Hamilton_—an inspiring and captivating tale told and performed in a powerfully creative way," said Bob Iger, Disney's executive chairman (and former CEO) in a press release. "In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful. We are thrilled to bring this phenomenon to Disney+ on the eve of Independence Day, and we have the brilliant Lin-Manuel Miranda and the team behind _Hamilton to thank for allowing us to do so more than a year before planned."

July 3rd can't come soon enough.
