Amazon Prime Launches Watch Party, a Way to Stream With Friends

Amazon is giving Prime users a way to hang out together while watching Prime TV shows and movies, but from the comfort of your own homes.

Watch Party is a new Amazon Prime Video feature that allows up to 100 people to have a simultaneous social viewing party—the only catch is that each person must have a Prime subscription.

Any title that is currently available within the streaming service's U.S. catalog can be viewed on Watch Party. The host of the party is in charge of playback controls and a chat feature, which lets all the guests write messages back and forth while watching. Only people who are invited can join the group.

The feature is only available on laptops, and it's unclear if other devices will be invited to the party at a later date. Watch Party is slowly rolling out in the U.S.
