It's been over 30 years since we last heard from Punky Brewster, so to say that we're excited about a reboot of the show is a gross understatement. Get ready for some 40-something Punky power and a whole bunch of mismatched shoes, because Punky Brewster is back!
Punky Brewster aired from 1984 to 1988, and in case you need a refresher, it was about a spunky orphan who gets taken in by Henry Warnimont (George Gaynes), a grumpy old man who benefited greatly from Punky's cheery personality. The show also featured Punky's best friend Cherie Johnson (Cherie Johnson... when a name works, you use it, apparently), Cherie's grandmother Betty Johnson (Susie Garrett), as well as Punky's dog Brandon.
In the new version of the show, Soleil Moon Frye will reprise her role as Punky and Cherie Johnson will be back as Cherie, let's just hope she doesn't lock herself inside an abandoned refrigerator this time around. Sadly, George Gaynes, Susie Garrett, and Brandon have all passed away.
The storyline focuses on Punky, a divorced mom of three who meets a foster kid who has a very Punky vibe. We follow Punky's adventures and everyday life with her kids as she co-parents with her ex-husband, played by Freddie Prinze Jr.
