The monthly fee you're charged as an AOL member depends on the account you pick. Free monthly accounts are also available to former AOL members who have access to the Internet through other high-speed providers but wish to maintain the platform they enjoy.

History

America Online was one of several large Internet providers available to customers starting in the late 1980s. It was around during the dial-up-only days and then joined the high-speed revolution. AOL offered its own high-speed connection through DSL in the early 2000s, but discontinued it in 2008.
