Having one phone number assigned to more than one phone can greatly increase your productivity and can increase your responsiveness and availability. With one number ringing two different phones, you can help ensure that you never miss an important call.
Video of the Day
Create a Google account. A Google account is free and is needed before requesting a Google Voice phone number. With a Google account, you will also have free email, an online calendar and many other free services.
Apply for a Google Voice number. Once you have a Google account, request a Google Voice number from Google. You will choose what area code you want to use and will need to wait until a Google Voice number is available for you to use.
Change Google Voice settings. Once you receive your Google Voice number, you will have access to your Google Voice settings page and inbox area. In the settings area of Google Voice, add the two existing numbers of the phones you want your Google Voice number to forward to. You can select up to 10 different phone numbers, and these can be either a land-line or cellular number. In order for these phones to be associated to your Google account, they will need to be verified. Google will call these numbers and prompt you to enter a two-digit code that will be given to you on your Google Voice inbox. Once the code is entered, your phones will be verified for use.
Have all Google Voice numbers sent to your two phones. By checking the "Forward Calls To" boxes for each of your two verified phones, Google will send all calls to both numbers.
