How to Change the Resolution on a Canon Powershot

By William Pullman

Canon Powershot digital cameras have several different settings that allow users to adjust the quality of a photograph. The resolution options on Powershot cameras can increase the quality as well as the size of photographs taken with the camera. If you want higher-quality pictures, adjust the resolution to a higher setting. When you are low on memory but still want to take pictures, you can adjust the resolution to a lower setting to decrease the file size.

Step 1

Press the "Func./Set" button and choose "Compression" and "Recording Pixels."

Step 2

Scroll through the resolution settings with the right and left arrow buttons. The resolutions are written in letters. The letter "L" is the largest resolution, and "S" is the smallest.

Step 3

Press the "Func./Set" button to save the resolution setting.
