Gmail is Google's email alternative to other popular email programs such as Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and others. After you set up your Gmail account you can begin sending and receiving emails using the address. Gmail gives you just over 7 GB of storage space, so you won't have to worry about running out of room. Also, when you initially delete emails, Google archives them so you'll be able to access them later within the program if you need to. You can check Gmail on your computer, smartphone or other Web-enabled device.
Open the Web browser on your computer. Likewise, if you are using a smartphone or any other Web-enabled device, open the native Web browser on the device.
Click or tap the address bar to select it and make it editable.
Type "gmail.com" and then press "Enter" or the equivalent button on the Web-enabled device. If you are using a computer you will be taken to the standard Gmail homepage. If you are using a Web-enabled device you will be taken to the mobile Gmail homepage.
Click or tap the "Username" field and then type the username associated with your Gmail account. Click or tap the "Password" field and then type the password associated with your Gmail account. Tap "Sign In." Your Gmail account appears on the screen.
Scroll through your inbox and click to open new or older messages.
