How to Delete a Location on a Garmin GPS

By Shea Laverty

As you log miles and years onto your Garmin GPS device, you'll find your list of saved locations continually growing. Also known as Favorites or My Locations, your saved locations can be accessed to quickly plot a course to your favorite destinations. If your list of favorite locations has become too densely populated or there are locations you no longer visit, you can delete your saved locations. You can also clear your list of recently visited locations.

Deleting Saved Locations

Step 1

Touch "Where to?" followed by "Saved." Some models may list this option as "Favorites" or "Locations."

Step 2

Touch the Menu button, indicated by three horizontal lines.

Step 3

Touch "Delete Saved Places" and select the box next to the location you wish to delete.

Step 4

Touch "Delete."

Clearing Recent Locations

Step 1

Touch "Where to?" followed by "Recent" or "History."

Step 2

Touch the Menu button, indicated by three horizontal lines.

Step 3

Touch "Clear," followed by "Yes" to confirm clearing the list.

Tips & Warnings

  • These instructions are written for the Nuvi 55, 56 and 65 models. Older models follow generally the same pattern with minor variations in option naming and procedure.
  • For some models, like the 30, 40 and 50, deleting saved locations doesn't require the Menu button. Just select the saved location from the list, tap the information balloon and select "Delete." Likewise, the 30, 40 and 50 models don't require the Menu button for clearing history. Instead, find the "Clear" option at the bottom of the list and touch it to begin clearing your list.
