Pinging is an operation where you send a packet of information from your computer to a computer on the Internet to see whether the remote machine replies. Step 1

Open your Start Menu.

Step 2

Click "All Programs"; then open "Accessories." Click "Command Prompt."

Step 3

Type "ping" into the command prompt window.

Step 4

Press "Enter," and the ping command executes.
