So you want to know how to reboot a Dell Inspiron Laptop. There are a number of ways to do this, depending on whether your computer is fully working, or if it is crashing and you just need it off. Follow the steps below.

Step 1

The easiest way to reboot a Windows-based laptop is simply to click on the "Start" button, then the "Turn Off Computer" button, followed by "Reboot" or "Shut Down." If you choose to shut down, you can turn the computer back on shortly thereafter.

Step 2

If this doesn't work, which it might not if your computer is crashing or stuck, hit "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" simultaneously on your keyboard. This will bring up a small screen. From here, choose the "Shut Down" drop-down menu. Choose "Reboot" or "Shut Down."

Step 3

If your keyboard or mouse is not responding, you will need to do a hard shutdown. Most Dells allow you to shut down using the power switch. Just hold the button down for 5 to 10 seconds and everything should shut off.

Step 4

If for some reason the power button doesn't work, you need to go directly to the source. Unplug the laptop and using the method described in your computer's documentation, remove the battery. No power means a pretty quick shutdown.
