How to Reset a Mitsubishi DLP Lamp Hour Meter

By Patrick Nelson

After 3,800 hours, a Mitsubishi projector will display a message warning you to replace its lamp. After 4,000 hours, the projector will shut off and will not turn on again. Replacing the lamp isn't enough. After installing a new lamp, you also have to reset the projector's lamp operation time in order to make it turn on again.

Step 1

Unplug the projector and replace the lamp following the instructions supplied by Mitsubishi.

Step 2

Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

Step 3

Turn the projector's main power switch on.

Step 4

Hold down the two arrow buttons and the Power button on the control panel at the same time for at least 3 seconds. The status indicator will blink twice, indicating that the lamp hour meter has been reset to zero.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always reset the timer when you replace the lamp.
  • The lamp is fragile. If you break it, be careful not to cut yourself. The lamps contain mercury. Disposal of the lamp may be regulated by environmental laws.
