How to Stop Recording on DirecTV

The use of a DirecTV receiver with a built-in DVR gives you the luxury to search for channels and record them all in one box. There are several recording options with a DirecTV DVR, including setting your DVR to record a program at a later date or having the DVR record your favorite program every time it comes on. If you have a program recording and need to stop the recording for any reason, it's an easy process.

Step 1

Hit the 'Guide' button on the DirecTV remote and highlight the program you are recording.

Press the 'Record' button on the remote.

Step 3

On a high-definition receiver, select the option 'Stop Recording' by using the arrow buttons on the remote and then press 'OK'. The process is the same on standard-definition receivers, however, the choices are 'Don't Cancel', 'Cancel This' or 'Cancel All'.
