How to Transport an LCD TV by Laying it Flat

Whether you just purchased a new LCD television or are moving to a new location, it is important to to safely transport the TV. With or without a box, the best way to move the television is by laying in flat. This goes for carrying the television as well as moving it in a vehicle.

Things You'll Need

  • LCD television
  • Philips screwdriver

Step 1

Remove the television stand or wall mount from the television. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws that attach the stand and mount to the TV. The screws are on the back side of the television.

Step 2

Place the television face up when putting it in a vehicle. Use the same method to move the TV to another room.

Step 3

Cover the screen with a bed sheet, blanket or something soft. This is the most delicate part of the television and it is important not to let anything fall on it or come into contact with it. Refrain from placing heavy objects on the television that could damage the screen.

Step 4

Remove the television and keep the TV level and the screen up. Keep fingers away from the screen.

Step 5

Rest the television on a table or out of the way until you have the base or wall mount ready to be reassembled. Attach the television to the mount and place it back on the wall or on the television stand.
