The Amazon Kindle is a portable electronic document reader. With the Kindle, users can save electronic copies of their favorite books, magazines or newspapers and read them anywhere. The files are stored on the Kindle's internal memory. If the Kindle's internal memory is full, you can insert a Secure Digital (SD) card to save additional files. The amount of extra memory you add to the device is dependent on the size of the SD card you purchase.
Inserting SD Card
Shut down the Kindle by pressing the "Power" switch located on the back of the device.

Moving Files To or From the SD Card and Deleting
Press the "Home" key on the Kindle to return to your Home page.
Highlight "Menu" and press the select wheel to open the main menu on your Kindle. The main menu will appear in a small window.
Select "Content Manager" to bring up a list of all of your files on the Kindle. The Content Manager will show all of the files stored in the internal memory and the SD card. If the file is stored to the internal memory, it will read "Kindle" under the title. If stored to the SD card, it will read "SD Card" under the title.
Scroll to the first file you want to move or delete and press the select wheel to place a mark in the check box on the right side of the title. Repeat this process for each file you want to move or delete.
Open the "Menu" option on the bottom of the screen when you are finished selecting the items you want to move. The Content Manager menu options will appear in a small box on the screen.
Choose "Move to SD Card" if you are moving files from the internal memory to the SD card, and "Move to Kindle Memory" if you are moving files from the SD card to the internal memory.
Select "Remove Selected Items" if you want to delete the files from your SD card.
Things You'll Need
Files stored on your memory card will automatically appear in your list of files. If you want to sort the list so it only shows files on your SD card, open the "Show and Sort" menu and choose "Show SD Memory Card Only."
