How to Use the Windows Security Button to Log On

When you are using a tablet PC, you can use touch-screen features and select several types of buttons located on the side of the monitor. For example, you can select the Windows Security button on your tablet PC to access Windows Security settings. However, you can also manually change the functions of each button. You can even allow for the Windows Security button to be used to open the log-in screen on your computer.

Step 1

Tap the "Start" button from your Desktop to open the tablet PC setting, and then tap the "Control Panel" option.

Tap the "Mobile PC" option, and then tap the "Tablet PC Settings" option. The Tablet PC Settings window will then appear on your screen.

Tap the "Buttons" tab and then tap the screen orientation for your button from the "Button Settings For" list.

Step 4

Tap the "Windows Security" option from the "Tablet button" list, and then tap the "Change" option.

Step 5

Select the "Log On" option from the "Press" list in order to define the action you want the button to perform.

Step 6

Tap the "OK" option twice and then close out of the open windows. Press the "Windows Security" button on your tablet PC to open the Windows log-in screen.
