When memory access violation problems occur, you commonly receive a prompt to run the memory diagnostics tool. However, this is not always the case. Symptoms of memory problems include slow-running computers, or delayed or stopped response after clicking on a button. A blank area where a multimedia graphic should appear is another symptom that there is not enough memory to display the contents on the screen. Because any number of things could be the real cause of the memory issue, a diagnostic check and repair is a good starting point.

Click the "Start" button and then click "Control Panel."
Type "Memory" in the search box and then click "Diagnose your computer's memory problems." (Note: Type in your administrator password or provide confirmation, if prompted.)
Click "Restart now and check for problems (recommended)."
Run a diagnostic check and repair as soon as memory access violation symptoms appear. You may be able to restore your computer much faster at the onset of problems as opposed to waiting until more manifest.
