How to Install a Logitech Webcam Without a Disk

By Kefa Olang

Logitech webcams allow you to video chat, take pictures and create short videos you can share with family and friends using instant messaging programs and video-sharing websites. Before using the webcam, you have to install the drivers and management software. If you do not have an installation disc, do not panic. The Logitech website allows you to download and install Logitech webcam drivers and software and run the device on your computer.

Things You'll Need

  • Logitech webcam
  • USB cable

Step 1

Go to the Logitech webcam page (see Resources) and click the model that you are using.

Step 2

Click "Support" and click "Downloads." Select the operating system you are using (Windows XP, Vista) and select the file bit (32, 64).

Step 3

Scroll down and click "Download software." Click "Run" and click "Save" to download the installation file on your desktop.

Step 4

Double-click the installation file once the download is complete, and click "Run" to launch the installation wizard.

Step 5

Click "I accept" on the welcome screen after reading the terms and conditions, and click "Next." Connect the webcam to your computer using the supplied USB cable, and click "Next."

Step 6

Click "Yes, install my webcam with Logitech video" and click "Next." The files are copied, and the drivers and management program are installed on your computer.

Step 7

Click "Restart" when the installation is complete.

Step 8

Place the webcam on the top of your monitor, and set it to an eye-level position. Some of the Logitech webcams come with support devices that allow you to mount it on your monitor. If your webcam does not have a monitor support device, place it on your computer desk and adjust the angle to face you. Launch your webcam program or instant messaging program to begin use.
