How to Check Your Signal Strength for Comcast Digital Cable With Motorola

A Motorola digital cable box provides Comcast subscribers with digital cable television channels. If you are experiencing a weak picture, you may have a bad signal coming to your TV. Check your signal strength by accessing the Diagnostics screen of the cable box using your Comcast remote and viewing the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) value.

Step 1

Press the "Power" button to power off the cable box.

Press the "OK/Select" button immediately after powering off the box. The Diagnostics screen appears.

Step 3

Use the channel up and down buttons to select "OOB Status."

Step 4

Locate the field labeled "SNR." A value of "Bad," "Good" or "Fair" is displayed. This is your signal strength.

Step 5

Press the "OK/Select" button to exit the screen.

Use the channel up and down buttons to select "INBAND Status."

Step 7

Locate the field labeled "SNR." A value of "Bad," "Good" or "Fair" is displayed. This is your signal strength.

Step 8

Press the "OK/Select" button to exit the screen.
