The FTP software FileZilla is free for anyone to use because it is open-source software. When you use it to transfer files to and from an FTP server, you can do so through a proxy, which will mask your IP address, helping to protect your identity and anonymity. If you want to set up FileZilla to use a proxy server, all you need is the proxy server information.

Step 1

Open FileZilla, click on the "Edit" menu and then click "Settings."

Step 2

Click on the plus symbol next to the "Connection" section in the left side of the window.

Step 3

Click on the "FTP Proxy Settings" section and enter the IP address, port, username and password of your proxy server.

Step 4

Click "OK" to apply the settings and exit the Settings window. All future connections through FileZilla will use the proxy server you designated until you change the settings and erase the proxy server information.

Your proxy server IP address, port, username and password information is provided by the company form which you rent a proxy server.
