The SNMP protocol lets you set up monitoring and logging on your DLink router. SNMP sends alerts when issues arise, and the service logs any access attempts to a log file. You must enable the SNMP protocol on a DLink router. The configuration is set up in the console application, which is available from a Web browser.
Step 1
Open a Web browser on your system and navigate to the router's IP address. The default IP address is "192.168.1.1." Log in to the console at the login screen.

Click "Administration" in the right navigation panel. Click the "SNMP Manager" link to open a new window. Click "SNMP Community Table" in the drop-down box.
Step 3
Select "Public" from the list of table options. This option chooses all public connections to the router and logs the information. Click "OK."
Step 4
Select "Send Traps" from the configuration menu. Type an email address or select a file name to log the SNMP messages. Click "OK."
Step 5
Select the local router IP address from the list of "servers" you want to monitor. This option monitors the local router, but you can also use IP addresses of server computers to monitor from the router. Click "OK" to save the settings.
